Here's the chunter from the match day programme from Chairman Adam Briggs

A warm welcome is extended to our old friends and rivals Old Crossleyans, today’s visitors. The ‘Crocs,’ have endured a difficult season, however, last week they enjoyed a good 31-21 win over Wath. This was described as a rousing win and gives todays visitors a one point lead over rivals Leos in the Yorkshire Two relegation battle.

Ripon will clearly have a say in this battle, as after today the next home game is against Leos. The Ripon lads will want to get back on track today after a ‘difficult day in the office,’ at table toppers Moortown. We have played some good rugby this season and we want to finish the end of the season with momentum!

Dublin has a long history of breaking hearts, particularly English hearts and last weekend the loss to Ireland slightly took the gloss off a great achievement for England. That said England have achieved a great deal since the World Cup from Hell and should be congratulated. Did anyone really believe an England win on St Patrick’s weekend in Dublin was on the cards?

Talking of broken hearts, the Lions selection is looming and if rumours are to be believed recent history may repeat itself and an England captain excluded. I hope that does not happen this time as I think Hartley’s contribution to England’s renaissance has been impressive. Providing he can keep out of jail, he could make a difference in the heat of the Kiwi onslaught; time will tell.

We also wish the 2nd XV the best of luck today in the first round of the league playoffs, and we welcome Morley to Mallorie Park. The 2nds have had a good solid season this year, with a strong team of players of both experience and youth. It was great to see last week a good contingent of our U18s Academy lads stepping into senior rugby to make their debut for the 3rd XV. There are very bright things to come out of the Academy set up with big numbers for next season lined up, which is testament to the hard work our coaches and volunteers put in year after year developing the age grade section.

I hope everyone enjoys the game and has a pleasant drink with us after.
