It’s with great pleasure to announce that we have Peter Taylor joining the Senior Rugby Coaching Team at Ripon RUFC as a Coach.

Peter comes to Ripon with a wealth of rugby experience both playing and coaching. He started his playing career in 1990 for the South West England U21’s, later moving to play for Harrogate between 1992 – 2005 having 224 league appearances. During that time he also played for the RAF with 21 caps for the Army vs Navy (8 as Captain), and the Combined Services with 25 caps, as well as playing for Yorkshire (County Champions 1994 & 2000). Later on in his playing career he played for the Barbarians with 2 caps in 2003-4, the Steel Bodgers XV in 2003 and played for the England Legends in 2009 vs Ireland Legends.

Peter’s coaching career started in 2005 when he was Head Coach at Bedford Athletic. In 2008 he moved to Darlington Mowden Park where he was Head Coach and Coaching Director for 3 years. During this time Peter was also Head Coach for the RAF (2006 – 2009) and Forwards Coach for the Combined Services (2008 – 2009), gaining his Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Rugby Union. In the last few years he has coached the Durham County Senior XV and the North U18’s and currently is a Centre Lead for the Yorkshire Carnegie DDP.

On the signing of Peter Taylor, Club Chairman Adam Briggs had this to say “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Taylor as a forwards coach, in the Director of Rugby Ian Hassall's coaching team. On behalf of Ripon Rugby Club I would like to welcome Pete, he has played at high level and is a well respected coach. This is another sign of our ambition to improve and develop the Club. Peter's experience, tenacity and technical knowledge will add real value to our rugby.”
