An announcement from Peter Fletcher - Director of Rugby

Now that the dust has settling on what was a tumultuous and ultimately successful end of season for the 1st XV, it seems like an appropriate time to formally thank Pete Taylor for his service to the club over the past four seasons and especially this season where he has operated in the Lead Coach role. Pete has expertly steered the coaches and players during his tenure and has shown unquestionable levels of passion and dedication to the cause. It is safe to say that Pete has been responsible for driving many of the improvements in the way that the playing and coaching side of the club operates. We wish Pete well with his future endeavours, wherever and whatever they may be.

It is also at this time of year that we can start to look ahead to next season and I’m pleased to say that there has already been a degree of planning and preparation carried out. It is due to those activities that I can now formally announce that Ian Hassall will be taking up the position of Lead Coach with immediate effect. During the process of recruiting for the Lead Coach role it became glaringly obvious to me that in Ian Hassall we already had the right man for the job within the club. I’m pleased to say that Ian was responsive to the approach and agreed to take on the Lead Coach role. I am looking forward to working closely with Ian as we plan for the coming season, wish him every success and will support him in any way that I can.

Peter Fletcher
DoR, Ripon RUFC
