Its with great pleasure to announce that last weekend Adam Briggs won the Yorkshire RFU Club Volunteer of the Year Award.

As you may be aware Adam, while serving as Club Chairman and Secretary suffered life changing injuries in 2018 but has fought back with determination and is now very much on the road to recovery. Sadly he had to relinquish his “official” positions but continued to support us with his weekly “Briggsy Banter” in the match day programmes and more recently he has taken a role on our Beer Festival Committee looking after the sponsorship. Adam now is back on the Executive Committee heading up the sponsorship role for the whole club.

Here is an outline of the reasons he was awarded with the YRFU Volunteer of the Year:

Adam has been involved in rugby for over 40 years, he was an uncompromising prop; the first to put his arm around friend or foe. He has always been one for promoting junior rugby and the benefits our sport can bring to people’s lives. Adam has been responsible for the development and management of age grade rugby from humble beginnings to having a bustling section with hundreds of volunteers. More recently Adam has fulfilled the roles of Club Chairman and Secretary building a highly successful team around him. He has developed guidance embracing all aspects of our rugby club life.
