After looking a little unenthusiastic during the warm up, the Ripon girls came out onto the pitch with a better attitude, starting strongly, running into the sun, the first try was scored fairly quickly by Olivia Ward. This set the tone for the first half with Ripon continuing to dominate their opponents, with Katie Greensit, Caitlin Bate and Holly Topping breaking the line allowing 3 more tries in the first half by Alesha Mawer, Olivia Ward and Amy Wilshaw, two of which being converted by Olivia Ward. Bishop Auckland came back with a strong try and conversion making the halftime score Ripon 24 - 7 Bishop Auckland.
The second half saw BA coming out digging deep and scoring the first try of the half, with the game at a tipping point the Ripon girls showed a renewed determination and self belief with the usual suspects Emily Copper, Maddie Wright and Lucy Verity tackling hard and low, which was consolidated by hard, straight runs by Hazel Carling and Nicole Webster. Phoebe Caven on her first outing slotted straight into the team showing great all round promise. With everyone tiring and a slippery ball Ripon still pushed forward, scoring another two tries by Maggie Tattersall and Amy Wilshaw, who very gracefully scored by flipping over backwards!
The team as a whole showed that their hard work and commitment is still bearing fruit as they continue to improve even though the conditions were heavy underfoot. A well deserved Win to Ripon
Final Score Ripon 34 - 12 Bishop Auckland
