What a day!
It’s fair to say our first game of rugby - (without the tag belts) was a resounding success, in spite of the weather.
A fantastic turnout, despite a world renowned cycle race visiting the area on match day, saw 29 committed Ripon players (enough for 4 teams!!!) take to the pitch. Our first game of the season welcomed our friends and neighbours from Richmondshire and Northallerton clubs to display their skills and abilities.
In weather more accustomed to January than late September all children played exceptionally well. Strong running, built up over the last 2 years of tag was on evidence from the off, matched by tenacity in defence and commitment in the tackle. The Ripon coaches know how good our players are, but it’s always nice to hear positive messages of support from fellow team coaches and parents.
A massive pat on the back to our future superstars.
Yet again, the players and their attitude did the club proud.
Hopefully the kit bag will be dry in time for the visit of Selby on the 6th October.
