A beautiful morning at Wensleydale, playing on the top pitch and Ripon U16s must have spent the first half admiring the impressive view because at half time they were 7-3 down thanks to the trusty boot of Oliver Williams slotting the only points of the half.
Short of backs for the fixture Ripon had to ask second row/back row Titus Baker to play on the wing along with Edward on the other wing running out for his first game for Ripon but on the wing for the first time instead of his usual position of back row.
Max moved to full back for his first game at that position too.
Wensleydale played very well in the first half nullifying the Ripon attackers early and tested the unfamiliar Ripon back three with some clever kicks, resulting in a well worked try for the home team.
The second half was a different story though. Titus Baker opened up with a nice try down the left wing and from that point the game opened up allowing Ripon to run in a number of tries.
An entertaining game to watch and played in good spirit.
Tries scored by Titus Baker (2), Oliver Williams (3), Ted Wainwright(2), Evan Rees
Penalty and four conversions by Oliver Williams.
