Here's the chunter by Chairman Adam Briggs from today's match day programme

This week’s Chunter is written with the hope that the pitches have dried out later in the week as last Saturdays First XV game resembled scenes from the battle of the Somme!

That said Ripon played some of the finest rugby the lads have played all season, leaving their wet supporters proud but somewhat puzzled.

The win against a resurgent Roundhegians was as comprehensive as it was welcome. The interplay between forwards and backs, illustrated by great handling, in dreadful conditions, was great!

The Committee have considered asking Chappo to water the pitch every week.

Today we welcome table topping Pontefract to Mallorie Park. They are enjoying their best season for years, with attacking rugby that has seen them deservedly leading the pack. I hope the confidence we have gained from last week contains an element of surprise for this afternoon’s game.

I’d also like to wish the 2nd team all the best in their Quarter Final Cup match today against Harrogate Pirates. The match is being played today at Wetherby so we will await the result coming through.

With the action of the six nations back on our screens, on paper England enjoyed an emphatic victory in Italy. That was not without some real challenge in the first half, when they were truly tested by the Italians. Those large Welsh backs will have been salivating at the apparent vulnerability of England’s defending out wide.

I hope you all enjoy the rugby this afternoon and my sincere thanks goes to you for your support.
