An update from Club President, Mr Tim Wray on the next stage of improvements to the clubhouse facilities.

Following on from the major refurbishment of the clubhouse only two years ago your Committee approved further capital projects which are underway during this close season. This is all part of our policy of reinvesting in the club to provide up to date, modern facilities for our members.

The changing rooms are undergoing an upgrade which includes: new ceilings to several changing rooms; the forming of a ‘privacy lobby’ and interlinking the changing rooms used by the women and girl’s sides; WC and shower facilities in the referee’s room; and complete redecoration. We have also decorated the external gable end of the clubhouse to provide a smarter appearance from the Studley Road end. These works are well advanced.

Plans are ongoing for the refurbishment of the main clubhouse Male and Female WC’s which will include a total strip out of the existing to be replaced with modern, light and more hygienic facilities. These could be completed by the start of the new season. There will obviously be a period when the facilities will be out of use when we will need to use both the Invalid and changing room WC’s and we request your understanding.

The cost of these projects will be met out of club funds although we may receive a grant towards the WC refurbishment from the Rugby Union. As always the funds which we are able to reinvest are dependent upon timely payment of membership subscriptions by all who use the club, fundraising, sponsorship and our continued sound financial management.

Future projects to the clubhouse are to include alterations and upgrade of the kitchen and shop.

Expenditure on our grounds is also essential with a ‘new’ and larger grass cutter having recently been purchased and proposals for increased pitch maintenance under way.
