U14 Match Against Acklam, Closer than Score Suggests

An away game at Acklam this week, the home side started well but Ripon matched them with some good defence, holding the home team up on the Ripon try line and pushing them back several times. Acklam did get the first try from a penalty. Ripon hit straight back with a try from Olly Bowett after a strong run from Rob Heaton and good back up play from James Willis. Acklam again went ahead before Ben Borchard scored a second for Ripon to level the scores at 12-12.

Both sides had chances, but Acklam took the lead again with two more tries before Olly went over for his second of the match after a good run down the wing by Charlie Britton was stopped just short of the line. In the last five minutes of the game Acklam’s speedy winger went over for three more tries which gave the score a one sided look, the game was a much closer match than the score suggests .
