Ripon started well this week at Thirsk, from the kickoff Ripon pressed, and good runs from Ric and James almost brought early points. As it was Ben Borchard got the first try with a typical strong run to go in under the posts, within minutes Ripon had another when James Willis playing in the backs this week intercepted a Thirsk pass and ran in, Adam converted both to give Ripon a 14-0 lead.
Thirsk then hit back as Ripon switched off, first with a botched kickoff return and then a lack of concentration after a Thirsk scrum saw the scores level. Ripon then got back on track with a strong run from Rob Heaton followed up by Oliver Bowett to score the third.
Ripon where unlucky when Ob went over again from a lineout, but failed to ground the ball, then Will Langford went over but play was pulled back for a knock-on. Thirsk pulled another back when Ripon’s tackling dropped off and the score was tied again 21-21.
It was short-lived as from the kick-off Jack Baldwin gathered the ball and was too strong for Thirsk to stop. Ripon’s final score of the match came after good work from the forwards took the ball to the try-line where Rob picked up and went over, Thirsk 21- Ripon 33 Another good all round performance.
