Another good performance by Ripon against Wetherby at home, but again no win at the end of the game. Ripon started well both in attack and defence and had two good early chances but were unable to find the final ball when near to the opposition line. The teams were well matched and both
had chances.
Wetherby got the first try with a long run from the halfway line but Ripon hit back and enjoyed a spell of good pressure, playing through several phases close to the Wetherby line, before Adam Western went over from five yards for a try he then converted to draw the score level.
Both sides had chances, Ric Castle-Ward was unlucky to knock-on when clear and Jake Robinson came close after some good attacking kicking from Charlie Britton. Wetherby got two quick tries when Ripon’s concentration dropped, first a bad pass was intercepted and then a defensive kick found
Its way into a Wetherby wingers arms. Ripon continued to play well and came close when Rob Heaton went over but could not ground the ball.
All the squad played well, stand out tackles coming from Miles Naylor, Miguel Perez and Elliot Brooksbank. A good game to watch and a step in the right direction.
*** Also a big thank you to Helen Munro for organising the cake stall and raffle for the team on Sunday, to all the helpers and to everyone who contributed prizes the the raffle and baked cakes.
