Ripon struggled against a well drilled Middlesbrough side at home this week, going down to nine unanswered tries. The visitors started well with Ripon falling off too many tackles and slow to get to the breakdowns. By the end of the first of three periods they trailed by twenty six points.
The second period saw Ripon control more of the ball, good runs from Olly Bowett and Rob Heaton made good ground but the Boro defence held up well and Ripon could not find a way through. Boro always dangerous on the break scored two more tries to lead forty nil going into the final third. Although on the way to a heavy loss the home team did not let their heads drop and continued to battle to the end.
Man of Steel was awarded to Owain Gillam for his tackling prowess, Man of the match went to Rob Heaton for his workrate in attack and defence.
