This week Ripon 2xv made the journey to Wharfedale to play another Merit league fixture.
This weeks team had 18 players due to the 3xv fixture being cancelled by Wharfedale. Players coming in were Gary Nicholson and Elliot Fern, with Jack Baker returning from his sabbatical to the 1xv.
Before the start of the game Wharfedale lent Ripon a prop so that the game could be played with contested scrums. In hindsight maybe playing uncontested would of been better!
The first half was dominated by the Wharfedale pack and backline. With powerful runs from the forwards and some good lines run by their backs. This allowed Wharfedale to score trys with ease. Ripon's only reply came from the boot of Patrick Whittaker, who managed to kick 3 penalties.
Not much else can be said about the game as Ripon didn't get much ball to play with. When they did, simple mistakes were made and the ball was turned over.
The game ended 15 minutes early due to a head injury to a Wharfedale player. All at Ripon wish him well and hope it was just precautionary that he was taken hospital.
Final Score: Wharfedale 36 - Ripon 9
