Ripon 3xv v York 4xv

Yet again it was just the bare 3rds XV that travelled to York!, but the weather was great as was the pitch ( remember what playing on grass was like!? ), the fact that York had 20+ players was quite daunting, but the Ripon boys didn't seem at all fazed.
The game started at quite a pace, and the home team who had some very fit legs in there side looked like having an easy day, but the Ripon forwads and backs jelled well and quickly took the game back to York.

Play was end to end stuff with some great defending and then straight back attack play from both sides.
At the end of the first half it looked like York were going to walk it! After a very vocal team talk, Ripon came out all guns blazing!
Winning three scrums against the head, winger Mark Rees still high from the welsh win on Friday flopped over the line. Then an awesome maul by the Ripon forwards drove York back 20 yards and some great join up play by the backs saw George Gill go over in the corner.

Even a loaned York player got into the Ripon spirit and went over the line! Unfortunately tired legs and body's took its toll and York slipped over the line in the dying minutes. Final score 34-22 to York.

Again great spirit from the Ripon players, very proud to have been able to play my 10 minutes with you today boys!!
