A disappointing result for the Colts losing by one point to Thirsk at home. On a different day the performance would have been seen as good. Two tries from Ric Castle-Ward, one from James Willis and best of the day from Joe Middlemiss, taking the ball on the wing in his own half and beating three defenders to cut in and score by the posts.
A first class display of kicking from Charlie Hynes, scoring all four conversions. The pack coped well against the much heavier Thirsk pack despite losing prop Gatford in the warm up. On the down side the biggest problem was not reacting to the way the referee played the breakdown, too many penalty's given away resulting in two yellow cards, hopefully we can learn from the game and come out stronger next time. Final score Ripon 28 29 Thirsk
