U13s Impress against Malton

An outstanding performance from the whole Ripon U13s squad was made more impressive by the quality of the opposition.
By far the best opposition the 13s have faced this season. Malton's tackling was strong and their handling in the backs very good. However, the determination and team work from Ripon added another 9 tries to the seasons already formidable tally.

Connor Stout opened the scoring with a great show of strength powering over from 10 yards out with four Malton players on him.
Ted Wainwright scored his first of four against his old team after what is becoming a trademark run by Titus Baker, flying 80 meters down the wing handing off a number of would be tacklers. Malton eventually brought him down but Evan Rees was on his shoulder to take the pop ball and took it within feet of the line. Support was on hand and quick ruck ball allowed Hamish Mainey to feed Ted, who finished off a great team effort.

Ted Wainwright and Evan Rees combined again for Wainwright's second following a 50 meter break from Rees. Yet again support was on hand and Ted ran it in.

Harry Hill saved a certain try after the Malton centre made a break. Hill put a tackle in over his own line forcing the would be try scorer to lose possession.
Evan Rees scored next from a Malton mistake. Pressure was put on from a Malton scrum and the ball was dropped. Evan fly hacked the ball on and was first to the touchdown.

The 5th try came from a great piece of individual skill from Harry Hill. From within his own half Hill kicked the ball deep and showed his great turn of pace to be first to it. With just a couple of meters to the line Harry gathered the ball and despite the attentions of the defence, stretched over to score.
Ted Wainwright scored his hat trick before one of his former team mates crossed for Malton.
Harry Hill notched up another two, with typical powerful runs and Wainwright finished with one under the posts.

Oliver Williams, Cole Potts and Max Bridge showed good defence as well as asking questions of the defence with ball in hand.
Every player stepped up and gave their all today.
A thoroughly entertaining game against a good opposition.
