U13s bow out in YC semis after brave effort

Ripon U13s travelled to Otley for the Yorkshire Cup semi and came up against a very well organised side.

Straight from kick off Ripon were under pressure and were starved of possession for nearly the entire half. A fantastic defensive performance by each and every team member kept the home team out despite the relentless attack until they finally broke through a gap to score in the corner making it 5-0.
A fly hack and chase from winger Titus Baker looked like Ripon might steal a score back just before half time but he was tackled without the ball just outside the 22 and awarded a penalty, which Ripon were unable to build from.

Ripon were still very much in the game as the second half started but Otley came out stronger and scored an early try with a well worked move in the back line.
Similar to the first half Ripon were starved of possession and the constant tackling was taking it's toll. Also similar to the first half Titus Baker had another chance with a kick and chase where he was again awarded a penalty for being brought down without the ball.

Otley scored their third and the Ripon lads could see the game slipping away from them but they stuck in and continued to battle right to the end.

A final try just before full time sealed the win for Otley.

A massive "well done!" to the Ripon squad to reach the semis and to perform so well in a quite physical encounter.
