They don't get much closer...
Ripon had 10 squad members unavailable this week but showed strength in depth to come away with a victory against a very good opposition.
Ted Wainwright scored first with a trademark break but the points were almost instantly countered by a Keighley try from kick off.
Connor Stout scored a good 'wingers try' finishing off in the corner but again Keighley came back soon after with one of their own.
Cole Potts had a good game at 10 and showed his natural ability both in attack and defence. Ethan McMurray played well and had a number of snipes, evading the first up tacklers and Nathan Fraser proved himself a useful utility player.
There were some great runs by Oliver Williams, Oliver Rockey and Connor Stout in the backs.
Ripon looked to be on top near the end and spent what seemed like an age camped on the visitors line. Evan Rees, Ted Wainwright and Max Bridge were all denied what looked certain to be a try by some outstanding defence.
With the final whistle looming Keighley had a dangerous attack and looked like they might pinch the game but excellent Ripon defence turned over the ball and Ripon worked their way upfield to score themselves, with Ted Wainwright touching down for his second.
A great game to watch and very exciting!
