No parsley sage rosemary and thyme but plenty of tries...
Ripon arrived at Scarborough missing quite a number of players due to Easter holidays and injuries and could only muster 14 players. However the home team also missing some players could only field 13 players so it was agreed to play without flankers.
The Scarborough team was dwarfed by Ripon and it didn't take long for the visitors to show their physical dominance. Playing without flankers saw Evan Rees starting at inside centre instead of his usual number 6 position. Straight from the kick off Ripon gained possession and a few good passes saw Evan storm in to score under the posts with his first touch of the ball.
Shortly after Oliver Williams and Connor Stout both added to the try count showing their blistering pace to beat the defence.
At this point it was looking a bit one sided so the Ripon substitute pulled on a Scarborough top to give them the extra man.
However, the extra man couldn't prevent Ted Wainwright crashing through for two long range back to back tries.
Ripon rotated their Scarborough transfer regularly and it wasn't until Wainwright took his turn on the opposition that the home team crossed the Ripon line one made by Ted and the other scored by him.
At half time a number of positional changes were made that saw Wainwright move out to the wing and Titus Baker come to 8. Titus was unlucky not to score from a long range kick and chase that he failed to ground cleanly diving over the line.
Connor Stout scored a couple of great individual tries showing a great turn of speed and balance to weave his way through about 8 defenders for one of his tries.
Olliver Williams finished with his second try and Ripon's 8th.
Hamish Mainey had his kicking boots on, slotting all 8 conversions.
Cole Potts had a great game in attack and especially in defence at one point tackling a player, then getting up and tackling the player he had offloaded to.
Tries:
Connor Stout (3)
Oliver Williams (2)
Ted Wainwright (2) - Sorry Ted not counting the Scarborough try!
Evan Rees
Conversions:
Hamish Mainey (8)
