U13s Edinburgh tour off to flying start

Donning traditional flat caps and with the tour cry of 'Now Then' getting a response of 'Ey Up' it didn't take Ripon long to recover from Friday's trip up to Scotland.
Evan Rees scored within the first minute and the flood gates were open. Cole Potts scored straight after, followed by Hamish Mainey, Connor Stout, Harry Allen, then two from Ted Wainwright.
The opposition were starting to pick up a few knocks so a couple of double agents crossed to the other team.

Half time came and Ripon were running away with the game so decided to mix it up and give some players a stint in an unusual position. Cole Johns (normally wing) went to hooker and made the mistake of playing really well - a mistake he'll learn to regret in future years when his neck has long disappeared. Dylan Hudspeth (normally second row) was a bit concerned about playing on the wing but did a great job. Cameron Gilchrist (normally prop) clearly enjoyed fullback playing against a pretty strong wind.

With the forwards realising how tough it is in the back line - the backs found what an easy ride the forwards have and Connor Stout (normally wing) crossed for his second try from the back row.

Connor then went a bit KGB and switched to the other team, where he scored their first points of the day.
Titus Baker was next to bring shame on his family by scoring for Portobello (at least Connor was in credit scoring two for Ripon).

With a strong wind behind them, some dodgy double agents and with Ripon trialling people in new positions, Portobello actually won the second half but the damage was done in the first half.

After match hospitality was excellent and everyone was very friendly. The double agents were duly punished in kangaroo court (Their defence was obviously taken into consideration).

Ripon also won the lemonade boat race and the dry cracker eating race.
