Past the Selby date

Complaints have been received about the lack of a match report from yesterday - Don't worry I'll just coach, referee, be the first aider and write the match reports :-)

So I may be "past the Selby date" but it's still safe to read;

A great start to the game after all the boys introduced themselves to Connor's girlfriend.

Oliver Williams set the stall out by scoring under the posts in the first minute Hamish Mainey slotted the conversion into the allotments (that's one ball lost) 7-0

Selby had a good scrummage and competed well in the rucks and mauls but Ripon defence was sound and the backs enjoyed a huge amount of possession, which they used to great effect as they went through their arsenal of attacking moves.

Cole Potts used his dancing feet to go over for another try - Hamish Mainey lost another ball in the allotments (14-0).
Ted Wainwright got Ripon's third with a trademark power house run - Hamish lost ball number 3 in the allotments (21-0).
Evan Rees was next on the scoresheet showing some recently acquired pace. Dan told Hamish not to kick the ball so hard because we were running out of balls - conversion missed (26-0).

Harry Allen notched another score up with a typically evasive run. Hamish was worried about the lack of match balls so missed the extras (31-0).
Evan Rees got his second with a long distance run. Hamish found the balance between the allotments and the posts and added the conversion (38-0).
Connor Stout checked his hair was still in place then the boys all went to chat with his girlfriend at half time.

Respect to Selby - they lost a couple of players to injury and had to borrow two Ripon players despite that and the scoreline they kept their heads up and were still competing very well. Some great Ripon goal line defence held them up two or three times in try scoring positions.

New signing Max Fenton came on for Ripon and showed great potential with some strong runs.

Ted Wainwright got his second of the game and the first score of the half with a long distance run. (43-0).
Oliver Williams closed the game out with two back to back tries, showing impressive speed and balance (That's a hat trick jug of beer for the coaches his Dad owes!). Hamish Mainey added both conversions (57-0).

A great effort by the whole team - the try scorers have to rely on the hard graft of others to get possession. Well done everyone!

If you find a ball in the allotments please return it.
