Match report by Kelvin Heaton

An away game at Pocklington for the Under 14s this week which turned out to be a good close game. Ripon were guilty of starting slowly and Pock took the advantage with an early try when Ripon failed to clear their lines from the kickoff. Ripon soon got going and played some good rugby, strong running from the forwards and the ball moving well along the line. Wingers Elliot Bean and Fullback Charlie Briton making good ground as did Olly Bowett and Rob Heaton in the Forwards.

Pocklington however moved further ahead with a second try against the run of play 12-0 Ripon continued to press and were rewarded with a try by Ben Borchard after Ripon won the ball at a Pock scrum and again got the ball quickly down the line. The success was short lived as from the kickoff the ball was knocked forward and Pock took advantage and scored again 17 - 5.

To their credit Ripon pressed on and were unlucky when Will Langford touched down but was judged to be over the deadball line. The forwards competed well winning many of the breakdown balls and gained with more strong running from Rob, Olly and Jack Baldwin .

In the backs Lucian Wray had a great game and was judged Man of the match . Ripon’s second try came from Hooker Sam Headford who picked the ball up off the back of a ruck to take it over from 10 yards out . Whilst it was disappointing to lose , a good all round performance. Oliver Bowett was chosen as this weeks Man of Steel.
