The Under 14s put on a strong performance against a team comprised of Sandal and Canterbury players at Sandal. Ripon started well again, the forwards contesting well at the break-downs and the backs moving the ball well. Ripon soon had a lead when Charlie Britton finished off in the corner after the ball was played the width of the pitch. From the restart Ripon went close again when Ben Borchard's good run and offloaded to James Willis almost got them over the line.
Ripon controlled the game well, Rob Heaton making good ground and with the forwards supporting well the ball was taken in by James Willis for a second try. Sandal then hit back to make the score 5-10, Ripon however soon replyed with Charlie again scoring, running onto a chip into space from Charlie Hynds. Even when Archie took a yellow card for the team, Ripon continued to press Ob, Rob, James and Callum Anderson making good runs and with few tackles missed all round it was soon Charlie Hynes turn to get a well deserved try.
Sandal then scored two tries before Ben Borchard scored a typical Ben try, running strongly slipping tackles as he went. Ripon’s next try was the best of the day, after a long series of phases the ball was played wide from five yards out, passed along to Man of Steel winner Owain Gillam who broke the defensive line to score. The last score of the game again came after good phase work from the forwards, Rob going over from close in after James Gatford was held up a foot short of the line. James Willis was named Man of the Match though everyone on the pitch could have staked a claim to it.
