Ripon’s away fixture at York turned out to be a great game of rugby with ten tries being scored between the two teams. York set off quickly and had two tries on the board before Ripon got going. Ripons reply came after York conceded three offside penalties which saw Rip into their twenty two, Ripon spun the ball right, before coming back left the width of the field for Jack Baldwin to score on the overlap in the corner. Hynesy put the difficult conversion over to make it 12-7. York hit back with two more tries before Jack got his second, Archie Hassell chipping over for Ben Borchard to run down, he kicked it on for Jack to score 22-14.
Ripon pressed hard enjoying lots of possession and soon scored again. Charlie Britons long penalty kick from inside his own twenty-two caused the York fullback problems, with Ben and Jake Robinson pressing hard the ball was fumbled behind for Jamie Mcgoohan to touch down. Jake kicked the conversion 22-21.
With Ripon hunting for another, they neglected their defence and York hit two more tries on the counter. Ripons final try came in the last play of the game, after sustained pressure in the York twenty-two Sam Sweet powered over from close range while Ben was distracting some of Yorks more excitable players.
